In May 2022, ACEA partnered with Leander ISD to introduce students to the construction and civil engineering industry. Leander ISD offers the Career Opportunities on Location (COOL) program so students can learn in immersive environments. Civil engineers, surveyors, city employees, and construction experts created a the "How to Build a Subdivision” presentation series to explain each stage of the housing development process. The process includes land acquisition, surveying, soil testing, civil engineering, and construction. The presenters also share how you can explore the variety of career paths in the civil engineering and construction industry. Our series concluded with a field trip where students could safely explore an active construction site.
