Stakeholder Meeting Travis County held a stakeholder meeting on June 7 to review improvements to processes and introduce the new proposed fee schedule. Visit the TNR home page to see the proposed modifications. CITY OF AUSTIN
Transportation and Public Works Update The Transportation and Public Works Department (TPW) has worked to improve not only its site plan review process, but also its full formal review process for efficiency. TPW consolidated all development review within one group: The Transportation Development Services Division. This team provides review services on all aspects of transportation associated with a proposed development or redevelopment. This has resulted in a 4- to 5-day faster review cycle. The TPW website has more information. Transforming Site Plan Review The Development Services Department continues to implement changes as part of their Transforming Site Plan Review initiative to decrease turnaround times. Changes to Completeness Check:
Case Manager Assigned Beginning May 22, all applicants involved in site plan review of an affordable housing project or residential-only project with five units or more will have a dedicated case manager. This case manager will support projects through each required site plan review discipline across departments and serve as a single point of contact for applicants seeking assistance. This provides an additional level of support beyond the current case manager role. The case manager assigned to a project is listed in the AB+C Portal in the case folder details. In addition, these dedicated case managers will offer optional pre-submittal consultations and post-review cycle meetings for applicants. Initiatives to Formalize Comment Resolution Processes There are several initiatives being introduced to formalize processes for comment resolution, re-review, and new comments, ensuring the review process is consistent and responsive for all site plan applications. The new comment resolution process builds off the existing pilot program, providing applicants a means to address comments they believe to be inappropriate, inaccurate, or in conflict with other comments. That process can be initiated by submitting a request via the comment resolution web form. The formal new comment and re-review protocol standardizes existing best practices and ensures consistent processes are followed across departments for new reviewers and new comments.
