ACEA Reels in Members at Annual Fish Fry Fundraiser​

The 2024 Fish Fry was a success! The Fish Fry Committee coordinated another successful event to raise funds for ACEA’s operations. (Proceeds from this event support programs including annual student scholarships, and community involvement events like the Construction Expo.) The event was held on September 25th at the Wilco Expo Center, due to the impending renovation of the banquet hall at the Travis Expo Center. 

The Fish Fry Committee implemented several new games this year. Instead of hosting a raffle for several small items, they sold a limited number of tickets for a chance to win an entire Backyard Oasis. The package included a gas grill, a fire pit, pizza oven, a hammock with a stand, and an outdoor patio heater. ​

Members could also choose to enter two different sets of card raffles. They could win either a Turtlebox speaker, donated by Haegelin Wehmeyer Construction, or a Glock 19 donated by AK Fuquay Construction. Guests could also enter the drawing for a YETI Tundra Haul Cooler donated by Jones-Heroy & Associates.

​The live auction brought the usual frenzied bidding on the chainsaw donated by Capital Excavation. The biggest surprise of the evening was the hotly contested bidding for the UT and A&M football tickets donated by Bleyl Engineering. Techline Pipe donated tickets to a Dallas Cowboys game which also generated a bidding war. Finally, the side of beef donated by Goode Faith Engineering, was the most novel addition to the auction.
