SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarship Program Objective
The Greater Austin Contractors and Engineers Association (ACEA) scholarship program has been established to provide financial assistance for youth who intend to pursue educational opportunities in the construction and/or engineering career fields or other careers that will enhance the communities in which they live. The scholarship fund will provide grants on an annual basis for high school seniors. Scholarships are granted in variable amounts for various terms as determined by the Scholarship Selection Committee and/or the ACEA Board of Director.
Scholarship Requirements
All applicants shall meet the following minimum requirements to be eligible for an ACEA scholarship:
1. The applicant must be a high school senior in the current school year at the time of application.
2. The applicant must reside in Travis, Williamson, Burnet, Blanco, Hays, Caldwell or Bastrop Counties during their senior year of high school.
3. Applicants must provide grades and test scores to meet the requirements of the college, university, trade, technical or business school of their choice.
Application/Award Process
Interested persons must complete the ACEA Scholarship Application which includes general information, career goals, scholastic achievement, community involvement, and financial information. Applicants must complete a brief essay (300-500 words) about themselves and their career goals. Applications must be received by April 1st for consideration of award in that year.
Applications are screened by an impartial committee and scholarships are awarded to deserving students with the consent of the ACEA Board of Directors.
Payment will be initiated upon presentation of proof of registration by the recipient. If the scholarship committee does not receive a valid request by February 1st of the year following the award, the scholarship is deemed null and void.
History of the Scholarship Fund
The Austin Contractors and Engineers Association initiated the scholarship fund in 2003 as a benefit to its membership and the community at large. The fund is maintained through fund raising activities and donations from member firms. The fund is administered by the Scholarship Committee at the discretion of the ACEA Board of Directors.
