The committees of ACEA are dedicated to its member companies. We encourage all members to join and be active in committees.
Regulatory Oversight Committee
Chaired by Casey Giles, P.E., NTS/Mikedon
Goal: Monitor and comment on governmental policy changes
- Meet quarterly with various municipal and county officials on current affairs (Austin and surrounding communities)
- Formulate action plans to address proposed municipal and county rules, procedures, and policy changes
- Develop relationships with key municipal and county decision-makers
- Work with associations of similar interests
- Report on activities to board and to the general membership
Governmental Liaison Committee
Chaired by John Landwermeyer, P.E., Fugro Consultants, Inc.
Goal: Provide insight regarding local political processes
- Determine if and how ACEA becomes involved with local ballot measures
- Develop relationship and regular contacts with municipal and county decision-makers (Austin and area municipalities)
- Invite decision-makers to luncheons
- Educate ACEA members on how they and their employees may participate in the electoral process
- Report on activities to the Board and the general membership
Community Involvement Committee
Chaired by Robert Allison, RGM Constructors, LP
Goal: Build the Association's profile and membership and develop a forum for members to give back
to the community
- Plan and implement special events supporting ACEA's goals to include public involvement
- Administer Scholarship Program
- Conduct Annual BBQ Cook-Off
- Conduct membership drives
- Solicit member involvement
- Report on activities to the Board and to the general membership
Training Committee
Chaired by Darren Okruhlik, Texas Sterling Construction
Goal: Provide training opportunities for membership including technical, managerial, administrative,
& safety related
- Secure and work with trainer(s) on specific details of training session
- Organize and arrange all logistics for training session
- Market all training sessions
- Determine details of cost and registration process
Central Texas Infrastructure Design & Construction Symposium Committee
Chaired by Jim Brewer, P.E., Gray-Jansing & Associates, Inc.
Goal: Create the forum for uniting the Central Texas civil design/build community for the purpose
of improving our industry
- Identify session topics and invite moderators and panel members to participate
- Secure a venue and menu for the expected number of attendees
- Organize details of cost, registration, session rooms, exhibitors, etc.
Membership Committee
Chaired by Keith Ellison, PSI and Walter Stoker, Maxwell Locke & Ritter
Goal: Increase membership by recruiting the best contractor, engineer, and associate firms while maintaining existing members
- Create networking opportunities for recruited firms
- Educate existing members on issues board and committees are taking on with surrounding cities
- Work with community involvement committee to create networking opportunities
Fish Fry Committee
Chaired by Greg Shepperd, Fuquay, Inc. and King Norris, Blue Sky Utility Construction, Inc.
Goal: Plan and implement annual Fish Fry Fundraiser
- Solicit donated items for auction and cash donations
- Market the event to membership
- Arrange logistics of event (beverages, facility, etc.)
Golf Committee
Chaired by Michael Stevens, J.C. Evans Construction Company
Goal: Responsible for planning three golf tournaments a year
- Organize logistics of events (facilities, volunteers, etc.)
- Solicit sponsors
- Market the event to the membership
Sporting Clays Committee
Chaired by Brian Haegelin, Haegelin Construction Company
Goal: Responsible for planning an annual Sporting Clays event
- Organize logistics of events (facilities, volunteers, etc.)
- Solicit sponsors
- Market the event to the membership
